Job Title: Manager, Systems Engineering

As Manager of Systems Engineering:

  • You will lead a small team in delivering network and system solutions
  • You will provide hands-on support in developing and troubleshooting systems
  • You will work with engineers and software developers to select fitting design solutions that are compatible with system components

In addition, you will:

  • Confirm the stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of system architecture
  • Document design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information
  • Evaluate current technologies, project costs, design concepts, and design changes
  • Develop and approve project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Research hardware/software components and configuration required to meet business needs
  • Outline procedures to customers and installation teams for secure systems implementation
  • Perform continuous hardware/software maintenance operations (i.e. tests, installs and upgrades)
  • Monitor system operation to detect potential issues
  • Maintain documentation of systems and procedures
  • Configure servers to meet procedural specifications
  • Research, test, and verify proper functioning of software patches and fixes
  • Occasional presentation of technical reports and white papers

What Gets You the Job?

  • 6+ years’ experience in systems administration and systems engineering
  • Strong leadership and management of teams and vendors/suppliers
  • Four-year college degree or diploma in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on knowledge of systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise environments including Windows clustering, replication technologies, backup design, configuration and management, SAN configuration/management, etc.
  • Prior experience providing enterprise application and database support VMware environments
  • Proven ability to work with teams in a dynamic environment in delivering quality solutions
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, documentation presentation) with a focus on customer service
  • Ability to engage and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Solid experience with core operating systems and applications
  • Good application and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Familiarity with ITIL Service Management
